It is not always the same: The single elements are assigned differently on every roof. The logo works as a counter: The "n" (for net) that circles "the globe" is replaced by numbers in the chronological order of the messages.
A striking color is responsible for the recognizability of remote words. Red is an out-there bright color that immediately attracts attention. Thus the messages are easy to see when the user "surfs over" locations.
This type is a typical "pixel font" or "screen font". Pixel fonts are used on websites and computer screens. They guarantee legibility even in small sizes. REMOTEWORDS uses pixel fonts for two reasons:
1. They are easy to construct in large sizes (square system: with special consideration of the problem of visual distortion when installed on a roof)
2. REMOTEWORDS enlarges a tiny digital pixel screen to an analog large letter. Seen from space, it appears small again.
The concept plays with the idea of fusing the surface of the computer screen with that of the land. The pixel typeface is most important for identifying REMOTEWORDS. It represents the project and manifests its identity with the various messages and places.
